COLOR GUARD

August 16th- September 20th

The YMCA is in the process of starting a Color Guard class. If you are interested in this please contact the YMCA so we can put your name on the list of people who are interested.

What is color guard??

~Color Guard has evolved over the years into a sport that is a form of dance theater that uses props, along with movement, to express dynamic passages in the music accompanying the show. Modern color guards use flags, sabers, rifles, batons, swing flags, air blades, and a few other pieces of equipment, as well as a mix of ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary modern dance.

The YMCA will be having a weekly Color Guard class on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm. This class will be for girls and boys ages 10 and up. In this class, participants will learn basic movements and steps. Class fee will include the cost of equipment that each participant will get to keep (flag and pole). This class will be taught by Graciela Dodge who has 3 years of experience in Color Guard.

Equipment fee (one time fee): $20-$25 (flag & pole)

Class Fee: $20 for members and $25 for guests

Must be registered by August 12th
